CASE STUDY: Albany Law Enforcement Resolution Team (ALERT)
Founded in September of 2014, in response to rising tensions both locally and nationally, the Albany Law Enforcement Resolution Team (ALERT) was established to serve as a liaison between the residents of Albany and the members of police and law enforcement agencies.
ALERT focuses on facilitating open communication and building partnerships between the police, law enforcement, and all members of our local communities.
The relationship between ALERT, the community, the police, and law enforcement is built on collaboration and independent partnership.
With the mutual objective of creating a peaceful and strong region, they assist law enforcement with their outreach goals by bringing them face to face with the communities they serve.
ALERT identifies issues that “a” community faces and connects them with the police or law enforcement agency that can best address their concerns and in some cases meet the physical needs a community has.
ALERT is event driven. Their mission is motivated by our engagement efforts.
Their remarkable events are a means to an end… not the goal itself. Therefore, we will continue seeking creative engagement opportunities, so our events do not become stagnant.
Being event driven, ALERT has provided various avenues for engagement throughout the year through:
-
Community Leader, Police, and Law Enforcement Summit
-
Unite the County Carnival, Sports, and Skills Challenge. Events for the entire family
-
Improving Your Quality of Life; events for all residents
-
Albany Bridge Builder’s Awards Ceremony
